Render-Boy Utilities & Links
Check out these excellent utilities and links which help you get the most
from Render-Boy!
Create DXF Files:
Meshwork
is a 3D triangle-mesh modeling program for MacOS. It is designed especially
for making compact, efficient objects for use in 3D games or on the web.
It imports and exports several file formats, including DXF and optimized
3DMF. The DXF files from Meshwork can be easily imported into Render-Boy
and used as positive or negative solids, as well as surface models.
Create QuickTime Movies:
You can create QuickTime movies very easily by using Render-Boy along with
Moover, a great little utility for creating Quicktime movies from a series
of PICT files. Although MooVer is no longer officially sold or supported
by its author, you can still download it from CNET
Shareware.com. Just go there and search for "MooVer".
Create Animated Gif Files:
You can create animated GIF files very easily by using Render-Boy along
with GifBuilder,
a great little freeware utility. GifBuilder can take a series of PICT files
(like those Render-Boy creates) and convert them in minutes to an animated
GIF file. A great tool for web authors!
Viewing Utilities:
The "Render-Boy Extras" download also includes
PICT-Play. PICT-Play is freeware which can read in a series of PICT files
(like those created by Render-Boy) and play them as an animation. Since
these animations run directly from memory (rather than using Quicktime
compression) they run buttery smooth, even on older Macs. The size of these
animations is only limited by how much RAM you have.
