The second episode by Vans Stab High Indonesia, presented by Monster Energy (VSHIPBME), debuted online on Thursday, November 4.
While those of you scattered around the world indulged in YouTube or our new Stab Premium app (download now on your smart TV and devices), we were in New York spreading the gospel through a triple en event header.
For starters, Nathan Kostechko graced the walls of The Flower Shop in Manhattan with his collection of VSHIPBME paintings for a night of “Oohing” and “Ahhing.” Fans of surfing, art and culture gathered for the night to pause at the infamous leopard pool table and connect with the entertainer. Some sneaky individuals with sticky fingers even decided to take off with a painting, to which Nate said, “Whoever stole one of the paintings, I give you an ‘A’ for effort. I hope you enjoy the painting.
After a brief intermission, the team traveled to Rockaway Beach for rounds 2 and 3 of the race in New York. First, a VSHIPBME-inspired surf contest – or rather a jam session – for local groms aged 16 and under. The goal? Be radical. Be progressive. Do something that excites our official judges Micky Clarke and Pat Schmidt. The price? A one-hour private session at Skudin Surf at American Dream for the boys winner. A one-hour private session at Skudin Surf at American Dream for the winner of the Ladybirds.
Yes, that wave pool in New Jersey.
With wavy waves in the 1-3 foot range, the kids did what kids do – jump in and throw a few shakas. Congratulations to Beau and Tatiana for participating in the expression session and winning private sessions at Skudin Surf at American Dream.
Around 7:30 p.m., Episode 2 of VSHIPBME picked up the sights and sounds of Rockaway Brewing Company just down the street from the lineup. The engaged crowd of New York surfers remained fixed on the screen for some 51 minutes of viewing. You can do the same and watch the latest episode here.
For those of you in Australia, Episode 3 of VSHIPBME will premiere on Thursday November 10th at Surfboard Empire Nobby’s on the Gold Coast. For those of you in Bali, VSHIPBME Episode 3 will premiere Friday, November 11 at Manu Uluwatu.
